When you create a payment link in Clientbook, you have the option to set an expiration time for that link. By default, payment links do not expire. This means your customer can open the link and complete their payment at any time, as long as the link has not been manually canceled.
If you want to limit how long a payment link stays active, you can choose an expiration setting when creating the link. This can be useful for time-sensitive payments, promotions, or simply keeping your open payment requests organized.
Link Expiration Options
During the payment link creation process, you will see a Link Expiration setting. The available options are:
- Never (default) – The link will remain active indefinitely until the customer pays or you cancel it.
- End of Day – The link expires at the end of the current business day.
- End of Tomorrow – The link expires at the end of the following day.
- End of Month – The link expires at the end of the current month.
- Custom – Choose a specific expiration date that works for your situation.
Once a link expires, the customer will no longer be able to use it to submit a payment. If needed, you can always send a new payment link to the customer.
Where to Find This Setting
The Link Expiration option appears during the payment link creation process, before you tap or click Create Link. You can access this on both the Dashboard and the Clientbook mobile app.

What if I Need to Cancel a Payment Link?
You can cancel an active payment link at any time, regardless of the expiration setting. Once canceled, the customer will no longer be able to pay using that link. If the customer ends up paying through a different method (like your point-of-sale system or cash), you can also manually mark the payment link as paid. Frequently Asked Questions
Do payment links expire by default?
No. By default, payment links are set to "Never" expire. Your customer can open and pay the link at any time unless it is manually canceled.
Can I change the expiration after a link has been sent?
No. The expiration is set during the link creation process and cannot be changed after the link is sent. If you need a different expiration, cancel the existing link and create a new one with the preferred setting.
What happens when a payment link expires?
The link becomes inactive and your customer will no longer be able to complete payment through it. You can send a new payment link if the payment is still needed.
Can I send a reminder before a link expires?
Yes! You can send a payment reminder to your customer at any time while the link is still active. For instructions, see How do I send a payment reminder to a client?
