Short Answer
No. There isn’t currently a way to pause, snooze, or delay an individual auto message that’s already scheduled for a client.
However, you can delete an upcoming auto message from an individual client’s profile. Deleting it removes it from the schedule (and if it’s part of a recurring automation, it will stop future scheduled instances for that automation on that client unless you re-add the trigger).
- For Life Events, Tags, and Client Activity automations, you can recreate the message quickly by re-adding the trigger (re-add the tag, re-enter the date, re-log the activity, etc.).
- For Sales Triggers, deleting the scheduled message will remove it, but it won’t regenerate, since Sales Trigger messages are tied to a specific purchase event.
Understanding Auto Messages
Auto messages in Clientbook are tied to automations. When you set up an automation, the system schedules messages to go out based on rules you define. These rules live under:
- Life Events (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)
- Tags (when a tag is applied to a client)
- Sales Triggers (after a purchase is made)
- Client Activities (when an activity is logged)
- Sales Opportunities (when an opportunity reaches a certain stage)
Because these messages are generated by rules, you cannot “pause” a single scheduled message and have it automatically send later. Your choices are to either remove the scheduled message or adjust the automation that created it.
How to Stop or Prevent Auto Messages
If you want to prevent an auto message from being sent in the future, you have a few options depending on the situation:
Option 1: Delete an Upcoming Auto Message for One Client
If you only want to stop an auto message for one specific client, you can delete the scheduled message directly from their profile.
What to know before you delete it:
- You are removing it from the schedule, not postponing it. If it’s tied to a recurring automation (like a birthday/anniversary/tag automation), deleting it may also prevent that automation from continuing to schedule for that client moving forward. If you want the message to resume later, you’ll need to re-add the trigger (for example: re-add the tag, re-enter the life event date, or re-log the activity depending on the automation type).
Steps to Remove an Auto Message from One Specific Client:
- In your Clientbook, go to Clients (this can be done on the Dashboard or the Apps)
- Search for the customer profile you'd like to remove the auto message from
- Under Quick View, find Auto Messages, then select View All
- Find the instance of the Auto Message you want to remove, then click Delete
- Click Yes when it prompts if you are sure to delete the Auto Message
Option 2: Remove the Trigger from a Specific Client
If the auto message was triggered by something on a client's profile (like a tag or life event date), you can remove that trigger to prevent the message from going out.
- For tags: Remove the tag from the client's profile.
- For life events: Remove or change the date associated with the life event on the client's profile.
Option 3: Edit or Remove the Automation Rule (Stops Future Messages)
If you want to stop the message from being created going forward (for everyone, or for any clients who meet the criteria), update the automation itself.
- In your Dashboard, go to Setup
- Navigate to the automation type generating the message:
- Life events: Clients → Life Events
- Tags: Clients → Tags
- Sales triggers: Sales → Sales Triggers
- Client activities: Sales → Client Activity
- Sales opportunities: Sales → Sales Opportunities
- Select the automation you want to update
- Edit or remove the Auto Message action
- Click Save
This prevents future auto messages from being created for new clients who meet the criteria going forward.

Adjusting the Time Auto Messages Are Sent
If your concern is about when auto messages go out (rather than stopping them entirely), you can change the scheduled send time in your message settings. Auto messages start sending at the time you specify each day.
- Go to Setup > Messaging > Settings.
- Look for Auto Message Scheduled Time.
- Select the time you want auto messages to begin sending each day.
Note: Delivery times are available from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM to maintain compliance with federal regulations (TCPA). Messages do not all send at once; they are staggered every three seconds starting at the time you select.
