Overview
For the Edge + Clientbook integration setup, we need remote access (via TeamViewer) to the computer that hosts your Edge SQL Server. This article walks you through how to identify the server computer name using Edge.
What you will need
Edge installed on at least one computer
Access to Configure The Edge (usually available for Admin users on computers where Edge is installed)
How to identify your Edge server computer
Follow these steps on any computer that has Edge installed:
Open Configure The Edge
Open the Windows Start Menu
Go to Abbott Jewelry Systems
Select Configure The Edge
Open Database Settings (Production)
In Configure The Edge, navigate to Database Settings
Make sure you are viewing Production
Locate the database path
Find the field labeled DatabasePath or Shared Folder
You should see a network path that looks similar to this:
\\SERVERNAME\sharefolder\...
Identify the server computer name
The server computer name is the part right after the double backslashes
\\
Example:\\SERVERNAME\sharefolder\...
In this example, the server name is SERVERNAME.
What to do next
Once you have the server computer name:
Confirm which physical computer in your store matches that name
Install TeamViewer on that computer (this is the machine we will remote into during setup)
If you cannot find the server name
If the database path is not visible, does not show a server name, or you still cannot confidently identify the server computer, the best next step is to contact Edge Support so they can review your configuration and help identify the correct machine.
